    This course covers the ill-health effects which can arise from exposure to air-borne asbestos fibres. The course also aims to provide delegates with an understanding and appreciation of the legal and practical requirements to protect themselves, their employees and visitors from the risks associated with asbestos on premises. It also includes the duty to manage as prescribed by regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

    This course is designed to meet and exceed the requirements for asbestos awareness training as specified within regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. It also fully addresses the asbestos awareness syllabus as specified by the United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association (UKATA).

    After successfully completing the course delegates will:

    • Understand what asbestos is, its properties and its effect on health
    • Know where asbestos is likely to be found and what asbestos containing material look like
    • Understand the basic requirements of the law and the control of Asbestos Regulations 2012
    • Have a greater understanding of how to avoid exposures to asbestos including the use of the asbestos management plan and the asbestos register
    • Understand the general procedures that will need to be followed in dealing with an asbestos emergency

    All delegates who may work on the fabric of any premises built / refurbished before the year 2000, and those who influence such works.

    The course is recognised by the UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) and meets the requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR).

    This is an awareness course only and does not train delegates to work with any forms of asbestos. It informs the delegate how to reduce the associated risks from asbestos in order to work more safely on site.
